Waitsfield Village Path

Level: Easy-Moderate

Distance: 1.7 miles one way

From the north end of Waitsfield, starting at the General Wait House, the Path goes south to Mad River Green following the sidewalk through historic Waitsfield to the Green Cup, where it runs along the river and over an old earthen berm, which was used historically as a dam to power local mills and to collect river ice in winter. It continues along Route 100 and then crosses over to traverse around the Town
Pond. (Be careful crossing Route 100 here!) From the Town Pond it continues south over a boardwalk through a lovely wetland (great for bird watching!). From here the Path runs along Slow Road into the Mad River Green, where it turns left and crosses Route 100 again, skirting a town cemetery before dropping back down to the Mad River, which it follows to Fiddler’s Green.
