MRPA is seeking a new Executive Director, job description
The Executive Director is the chief administrator and the face of the Mad River Path Association (MRPA). He or she is responsible for executing and maintaining the fiscal, programmatic and functional health of the Association at the direction of the Board of Directors. Specifically, the Executive Director is responsible for the effective management of financial resources, staff and volunteers to ensure the successful implementation of policies and program supporting the MRPA mission.
The Executive Director must be a strategic thinker, able to take initiative, and to delegate effectively. He or she must be an effective communicator, a team builder, and an enthusiastic fundraiser. He or she should have demonstrated success in working with a non-profit or community-based organization. The Executive Director must be committed to enhancing and protecting the Mad River Path, and to developing strong landowner relationships.
The Executive Director reports directly to the president of the MRPA Board, supports Board committee work and attends all Board meetings. He or she must be comfortable engaging with and utilizing popular forms of social media. Familiarity with GIS, Donor Perfect and Quick Books a plus. This is a 25 hour per week, year round position.
Work with the Board on the development and execution of a comprehensive long-range plan for permanent Path protection;
Develop landowner relationships;
Maintain records of landowner agreements.
Grant research, writing and management;
Support annual fundraising efforts, including membership and events;
Foster relationships with current and potential donors (individuals, businesses, municipal and institutional).
Act as liaison with local and state officials and other partners of the MRPA;
Develop and maintain strong working relationships and communications with the 4 town administrations, the Mad River Valley Planning District and the Mad River Valley Recreation District;
Attend relevant meetings that deal with issues and concerns that are of direct interest to the MRPA;
Maintain MRPA website and growing social media presence and efforts;
Write and publish newsletters and articles for relevant publications.
With Treasurer, prepare and administer the annual budget and maintain financial records;
With Trails Committee, ensure appropriate Path maintenance and manage staff and volunteers;
Handle correspondence and other office functions; and
Other duties as assigned.
