Take the survey: how to address "dogs on trails" challenges

We love our dogs here in the Mad River Valley, and that includes enjoying time outside with them! Although many dogs and their owners are great at following the rules and being considerate of other trail users, we still face challenges that include dog waste scattered along trails, unleashed dogs jumping on other people, dogs biting people or other dogs, and dogs chasing wildlife. We need to address these issues in order to keep some trails open, to gain permission from landowners to create new trails, conserve our river and swimming holes, and to protect the safety of all trail users.

We’re looking for your help to figure out solutions through the Dogs on Trails survey.

This survey is intended to help determine the best ways trail organizations in the Mad River Valley can ensure all public trails and paths are safe, enjoyable, and sustainable while recreating with dogs. Between the results of this survey, pubic forums and discussions, and meetings of the MRV Trails Collaborative, we are striving to work as a community to solve the challenges we face around dogs in public outside spaces.
